Fertimanure kicked off this month
With a budget of 8 million euros, Fertimanure is funded as part of the Horizon 2020 call for Societal Challenges. Main objectives of the meeting were to establish relations between all partners, provide clarification about administrative issues, define the specific work that each partner is going to undertake for the following months.
This project is coordinated by the BETA Technology Center of the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). The project is aimed to develop biological fertilisers (or biofertilisers) from livestock manure, which will be tailor-made for specific crops and competitive in today’s market. More specifically, to find a sustainable solution to the problem of waste from livestock manure. Fertimanure will benefit from UGent expertise in the demonstration of the bio-based fertilizers performance: pot tests and field trials.
In addition, the Biorefine Cluster Europe will build a strong network of relevant stakeholders by linking the Fertimanure to similar projects and initiatives in EU. This network will be kept alive and informed not only through regular communication channel (website, social media, publications), but mostly through active participation in workshops, events and webinars.
