Pro-Enrich: Rapeseed side stream

The Pro-Enrich project has developed a flexible biorefinery approach able to processing a range of agricultural residues from rapeseed meal.

So far, the Danish Technological Institute (DTI, Denmark) - the project coordinator- and Bangor University (BU, UK) have developed processes for biorefining hot and cold pressed rapeseed press cake from Emmelev Mill (Denmark) into protein concentrate and isolate at lab and  in the pilot scale facility at DTI in collaboration with enzyme experts from Tailorzyme (Denmark) and processing experts from GEA.

The protein products have successfully been tested as a ingredient to substitute fossil based component in adhesives by CHIMAR, and as a food ingredient by Tate & Lyle. In the coming months it will be tested for pet food applications.
