Glasgow Caledonian University hosted European partnership and showcased innovative P recovery procedure with microalgae.
The first day focused on the quality assessment of the products evolving from the Phos4You demonstrators. The University of Ghent was leading the activity.
On the second day experts from Scottish Water provided an insight into the Scottish setting. An overview on Scottish Water wastewater treatment was given followed by an explanation of the current situation of WWTPs and sewage sludge strategy in Scotland.
To provide suitable solutions for the rural settlements to recover P, robust and low-maintenance technologies are required. Here, the Glasgow Caledonian University has developed a technology using specific microalgae that is able to accumulate P from water.
The Phos4You partnership visited the demonstrator at the Waste Water Development Centre in Bo’ness.
