Capacity building workshop series – Slaughter Industry and Farmers & Consumers – Gornja Radgona, Slovenia – AGRA

On Monday 23 of August, Water2Return has been presented at the 59th International fair of agriculture and food – AGRA – held in Gornja Radgona, Slovenia.

This event falls under the umbrella of the Dissemination and Exploitation activities, in particular, the main purpose is to involve stakeholders in different Capacity Building Programmes according to different target groups: slaughterhouse industry, farmers and consumers.

The first workshop addressed to slaughter industry started at 10 am, held by W2R partners, covering all the main sectors of the project.

First, Mr. Giuseppe Salvio from partner ENCO, has introduced WATER2RETURN project, explaining the benefit of EU cooperation thanks to H2020 programme. Subsequently, partner UECBV, represented by Mr. Marco de la Feld, has provided an overview on the slaughterhouses EU Market and waste from SWW generated in the EU, explaining the benefits of using Water2REturn solutions

External guest, Ana Ahčin, Secretary-General of GIZ Mesne, was invited to shed the light on the meat industry, focusing on the Slovenian slaughter industry context.

The second workshop address to farmers started at 12:30 with partner ELO, represented by Mr. Daniel Monteleone, discussing about the importance of nutrient’s recycling and fertiliser’s quality and the related regulatory aspects.

Mr. Robert Reinhardt (ALGEN), has presented the results so far achieved of the W2R technology.  Finally, Dr. Rok Mihelic from the Univeristy of Ljubljana, has presented the market potential of  organic fertilisers and biostimulants.

The event ended with the Q&A session in an open public discussion.

AGRA has been also the occasion to show visitors, in a small scale, how the W2R technology works.

All the visitors had the chance to ask question to the stand set up by partner ALGEN.

This event is the first one held in person since the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic. However, it was possible to follow the whole conference through the official Youtube channel.

Water2Return is ready for the next workshops: on 9 September, in Santarém (PT) in the frame of the AgroGlobal, and in Malaga (ES), on 30 September, in the frame of the SmartAgrifood Summit; both in a hybrid form.
