A regulatory review on the use of digestate to cultivate algal biomass for animal feed

The NNFCC in the scope of ALG-AD project produced a first report exploring EU legislation relevant to the microalgae production value chain, focusing on the rules that apply to microalgae for use as feed material. This document will be soon publicly available.

This study, “A regulatory review on the use of digestate to cultivate algal biomass for animal feed”, explores the EU legislation across the entire microalgae production value chain, focusing on how the requirements apply to the use of microalgae as a component of compound feed, which is the main market targeted by ALG-AD. Intended to inform project partners initially, this report will then be disseminated among a broader set of stakeholders and end users with an interest in this value chain.

In June, ALG-AD team held the first open day of Langage AD facilities. The ALG-AD team welcomed over 50 attendees and took part in the event, which included presentations and interactive breakout sessions to give attendees a chance to take part in discussions.

Dr. Alla Silkina, who organised the event, noted “This has been an excellent opportunity to showcase the work we have been doing at Langage. We had some great, challenging questions, and got the chance to understand perspectives of AD stakeholders through the session”

Further online events are planned for the coming year, including Facebook live sessions, and specific topic webinars. We will be including these videos on our YouTube channel, and we are also working on a virtual exhibition to share ALG-AD results to interested stakeholders.

Keep in touch with the ALG-AD team on twitter, linkedin and facebook to find out more about these upcoming events.
