The European Sustainable Nutrient Initiative (ESNI) Conference and the Nutrients in Europe Research Meeting (NERM) are merging into a single reference meeting to put together all the community working on research and innovation focused on nutrient management.

The joined ESNI-NERM Conference aims to showcase the latest research and demonstration outcomes in nutrient management and nutrient recycling.

ESNI-NERM 2026 is organised by the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform (ESPP) and the Biorefine Cluster Europe (BCE).

Programme outline (preliminary)

ESNI-NERM 2026 is the flagship event on nutrient recycling: it provides an overview of the scientific issues, developments and challenges of nutrient recovery and recycling. This one and a half day international conference consists of plenary and parallel sessions and poster sessions.

ESNI-NERM is a conference that will be a unique platform to present and discuss scientific evidence and technological innovations that can support the European Commission’s goals on nutrient management.

Authors are invited to present abstracts dealing with any of the following topics on nutrient recovery and recycling:

  1. technologies in nutrient recycling and valorisation
  2. agronomic performance of recycled nutrients
  3. sustainability of nutrient recycling and management
  4. path to market & policy on recycled nutrients

The aim is to showcase recent developments from the European research community and provide new knowledge from the latest projects on-going in the field. 

Accepted abstracts will also be published in the official ESNI-NERM Book of Abstracts.
