HarvRESt: Harnessing the vast potential of renewable energy for sustainable farming

HarvRESt is an EU-funded project aimed at enhancing the sustainable production of renewable energy on farms. It seeks to vertically integrate Renewable Energy Sources (RES) into agriculture, helping farms reduce carbon emissions and become more energy-independent

The project is developing three main tools:

  1. an Agricultural Virtual Power Plant (AVPP) to simulate and optimize RES configurations;
  2. a Decision Support System (DSS) to recommend the best energy integration solutions;
  3. a Business Model Catalogue covering financial schemes and innovative business models for farmers.

The work is grounded in five real-world use cases across Italy, Denmark, Spain, and Norway, involving a diverse mix of farm types, technologies, and stakeholders.
