“Common Dissemination Booster” services for Nutrient Recycling projects

Several projects related to “Nutrient Recycling” where granted the “Common dissemination booster” services under the coordination of the Biorefine Cluster Europe. These services will be granted by a EU consultant that will boost our dissemination efforts to common stakeholders. The learnings from these efforts will enable us to extend this service to other projects within the Cluster.

Common Dissemination Booster

The Common Dissemination Booster (CDB) is a brandnew service from the European Commission available to all, ongoing or closed, European, National, Regional funded Research & Innovation (R&I) projects (H2020, FP7 or other). Applying was possible until 31/11/2017.

The booster encourages projects to come together to identify a common portfolio of results and shows them how best to disseminate to end-users, with an eye on exploitation opportunities.

After approval of the application, you get free, professional consultancy services. Production of hands-on quality reports, positioning analysis, dissemination plan, training packages, …

  • SERVICE 1: Portfolio Identification Service
    Define your portfolio of results and attributes in common across the cluster
  • SERVICE 2: Stakeholder/ End-user mapping
    Identify and prioritise your stakeholders and build the networks you need to reach them
  • SERVICE 3: Portfolio Dissemination Plan Development
    Plan how to use dissemination tools to reach the right audience in the right way at the right time
  • SERVICE 4: Portfolio Dissemination Capacity building
    Learn the skills you need to improve your dissemination
  • SERVICE 5: Dissemination Campaign in Practice
    Hands-on support on delivering your dissemination campaigns

Nutrient Recycling CDB

Within the Circular Economy ambitions of the EU, nutrient recovery plays a pivotal role. In the participating projects, mineral nutrients (with specific attention for nitrogen and phosphorus) are recovered with intent for their reuse in agriculture.

In the proposed CDB, we aim to centralize dissemination to stakeholders and orient recommendations at three levels:

(1) dissemination and recommendations towards farmers as end-users for decentralized recovery of nutrients (link to nutrient use efficiency, soil organic carbon, agronomic & environmental impact);

(2) end-user requirements for centralized supply to fertiliser industry for use of recovered nutrients in more sustainable fertiliser development;

(3) recommendations for nutrients to be valorised towards animal feeds.

For this purpose the participating projects wish to engage the farmer and agroindustry stakeholders by disseminating complementary results, jointly in the form of workshops as well as joint publication of quality requirements and policy briefs.

In this stakeholder engagement, quality requirements of end-users are considered from a dual perspective : (A) use efficiency of the recovered nutrients as compared to fossil resource based nitrogen and phosphorus counterparts currently used, (B) absence of undesired contaminants (organic, inorganic, biological agents).
